Nejang is Tibetan physical Healing Yoga. It was transmitted by Buton Rinchen Drub, བུ་སྟོན་རིན་ཆེན་གྲུབ༏ through his Kalachakra teaching system. It is part of Lujong (body training), and Nejang translates as “cleaning the energy sites in the body.”
It’s a unique and quite easy to learn yoga system for health and therapy that can be done by anyone of any age, with almost no strain or physical effort. It is used as part of Tibetan medical therapy so will not cause any injuries. Think of it as Tibetan-style body detox without the side effects!
Nejang Positions for health
Nejang consists of 24 very gentle yet energetic movements that work together with a specific breathing practice. This helps to balance both the body’s internal energy and at the same time allows the mind to relax. You can use Nejang both in medical therapy and also for self-healing. This is because each position works on conditions caused by specific parts of the body, or caused by the mind. In the original text, this practice was said to unblock knots in the body channels and pacify diseases in the body and mind.
This DVD, with posture demonstrations by Dr Nida Chenagtsang, offer a focus on each movement together with a narrative that shows their respective healing results. You can learn each Nejang position very quickly, so you can start practising almost immediately and quickly feel the benefits. You will also learn simple breathing and holding techniques that help make the practice more effective and relaxing. There is in addition one special practice available on the DVD.
NOTE: No DVD can replace a good teacher. It is only a learning aid and to refresh the memory. While the DVD clearly shows each posture, we recommend that you should still take part in a Nejang yoga programme to properly learn each posture, and follow the correct preliminary practice and breathing techniques.
